Sensitive Cavity Limerick Blues
by Noah Berlatsky
A young thing was in need of a filling,
Yes, this woman's in need of a filling.
She opened up wide,
But then moaned, groaned, and cried,
Before the dentist could start with the drilling.

Said he, "You'll come right when you're under,
"Yes, you'll come right enough when you're under:
"For my consummate skill
"With my rotating drill,
"Turns pain to a pleased sense of wonder."

He plugged her up and collected his fee,
Well, he plugged her and collected his fee,
And she had to confess
As she smoothed out her dress,
It was better than she thought it would be.
