MARS NEEDS WOMEN!
And Poor Mojo Needs Content!
Poor Mojo's Almanac(k) is a weekly online literary journal seeking essays, stories, poems and questions for her Giant Squid. We are especially interested in seasonal content. If you think your piece has a seasonal spin, please note the appropriate seasonal relationship in your cover letter.

WE HAVE UPDATED OUR SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES AS OF SUMMER 2007! PLEASE REVIEW THE CHANGES AND CLARIFICATIONS.

Here are the submission basics:

Go directly to our Submission E-Z-Mailer
(Please, do not submit by email; email submissions are frequently lost to the wiles of our spam filter, and when they aren't lost are simply ignored for weeks and weeks before being considered.)

Here's the payment plan:

We cannot afford to pay you with cash, but we will honor you with glory, and if you come to Ann Arbor or San Francisco, to see the corporate office, we shall purchase you one (1) beer of our choice. Also, if you have five pieces published with us and have not retrieved a beer, you can exchange those promised beers for one super t-shirt.

Turnaround Time:

Ten weeks, or thereabouts.

Contests:

Poor Mojo's Almanac(k) holds three annual writing contests, the "$33-and-a-⅓ Meritorious Boons." These occur in series, have no entry fee, and pay out in cold, hard cash. In other words, there is a contest occurring right now and you can enter it. Learn more about our current 33-and-a-⅓ Contest

Rights:

Authors retain their copyright on all works published on Poor Mojo's Almanac(k). By submitting a piece to Poor Mojo's Almanac(k) you agree that, should the piece be accepted, you grant Poor Mojo's Almanac(k) a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right and license to digitally archive and display the piece (aka Digital Archive Rights.) In the case that we later desire to include your work in any other format (e.g. print, audio, etc.), those rights will be separately negotiated at that time.
