Angry Chickens
by Rich Furman

do not make good pets.
All beak and squawk and mindlessly

feathers everywhere. Walk endless circles
and fret while you try to read.

Peck the kids' fingers. Do not like
being touched. Do not care.

Nice people often make worse pets
than angry chickens.

Steal the blankets. Moods.
Needs insatiable. Do not respect space.

Run away and live with angry chickens,
too brainless to know of your sins.
