Concession Feast

No candles dance in celebration.
Paper plates are the china du jour.
Only a silver platter sits in
the center of the table.

In all these years, you chose this
evening to come home on time.
I hear your key assault the lock.
You must have sensed the struggle

was over. I finally bled out.
Gorge yourself on my power
as if it were a fine cut of meat.
There will be no leftovers tonight.
