Come, Masoyiyata, Come
by Uche Peter Umez
Come, masoyiyata,
we could be sprightly,
deer frisking
in the playground, come

The breeze
is a feather on the face
in the playground, come

The moon
is a balm on the skin
in the playground, come

The song bird
starts her spell on the soul
in the playground, come

The frangipani
unfurls her sensuous fragrance
in the playground, come

The turf
is decked with a tray of cakes and juices
in the playground, come

The gourd
brims over with frothy pleasures
in the playground, come

Quick, masoyiyata;
come with me, come.
