Poetry #98
(published September 5, 2002)
In a Studio on Perkins
by Matthew Wascovich

David has recorded
Hissing
Analog with
Foggy tabs and
Frantic taps

There is
Warm bass and
Devolution
A bad infection
Of inflection
Sort of like his river home

David is refracting
Bent notes as
An unfortunate
Notification of
Rats and possums
Living beneath
His home is pinned
To his door

He is not home

He is playing a
Dark commercial
To a backdrop of a
Burnt Cuyahoga
River almost lit
Almost a force
Almost under the industry

He is not home
Not tonight
