Poetry #349
(published September 27, 2007)
Breaking the Cycle
by Pete Lee
my search for self-understanding
leads me to a psychiatrist who
listens to me for an hour
then tells me what I really need
is to get laid so I go
see this hooker up on 18th
get down with her for an hour
and as I'm getting up to go
she hands me a scrap of paper
with the telephone number
of the psychiatrist on it
so I pay the nice hooker
for another hour and we just talk

then I go back and fuck the shrink
