Poetry #268
(published March 2, 2006)
No More Waiting
by Sue Miller
by individual ministration,
digital manipulations
force her knees high, higher
until she screams—
like Joan Crawford
breaking a gorgeous nail—
the release
is
strobed, pummeled, probed out of her
and she sighs like a hurricane deflating
done with waiting
for him to come home
