Marriage Portrait
by Peter Schwartz
Keith Carter stole a 1984 Buick Skylark right after getting married to Janine Dixon on July 10th, 1985. She was impressed and glad to be racing down the I-95, headed for the Florida Keys with Keith's hand on her knee. After a week of cheap motels and expensive rum, the money ran out and the gravity of who she had promised forever to dawned on her.

The next day Janine found herself sitting in the car watching Keith break into a payphone in broad daylight. She cried quietly. "Till death do us part," she whispered to nobody.
