Poetry #295
(published September 14, 2006)
Leukemia
by Brett Yates
my cousin whom i never liked told me
(and the rest of the family):
i have leukemia.

later he began to die and
just last week i said:
i bet you get a lot pity
from girls.

now im sorry i said that
he should be allowed to enjoy
a few more months of pity
without guilt.
