(published March 4, 2004)
HaIkullectIon
by Leslie Nuccio

Haikoolio
He's mad at Weird Al
Lost his sense of humor in
Gangster's Paradise

Haikudzu
It's Chinese cornstarch
They use it on Iron Chef
For sauces and soups

Haikulats
The Gap says they're cool
Pretends they invented them
Pay more for less pant

Haikoolidge
A man of few words
Our 30th President
Uh— that's about it

Haikooky
Shirley MacClaine, Cher
Marlon Brando, Ross Perot
Sonya Fitzpatrick

Haikoocoo ca-choo
Here's to you Mrs.
Robinson Jesus loves you
More than you will know

Haikupons
They come in the mail
They litter the newspaper
Begone, pesky gnats

Haikoosh
Rosie O'Donnell
Likes them even more than most
The college stoners

Haikuscus
Middle-eastern grain
You're no better than plain rice
But yuppies love you

Haikum Laude
Summa and magna
Take way too much studying
Let's settle for less

Haikooper
Gary and Alice
Jackie, Gladys and Dennis
Hangin' with Mister

Haikudos
Award or honor
Compliment, praise or glory
A chocolate bar

Haikubrick
His movies disturb
They seem to suggest that he
Didn't like women

Haikurosawa
Martial arts and trees
Samurais and religion
His films confuse me

Haikugel
A Jewish pudding
Not to be confused with the
Closely named Kegel

HaikublaiKhan
He was no Genghis
First foreign Chinese ruler
Without Granddad's ire

Haikumquat
A mini orange
You eat the skin, not the flesh
Too much work for fruit

Haikoors
Rocky Mountain brew
And a new Irish rock band
Both are watered down

Haikookout
Screw you, Bobby Flay
I don't need instruction to
Grill a hamburger

HaikuKluxKlan
Fear, hate, bigotry
You can look for the white hoods
Or just the red necks

Haikuwait
Can we have some oil?
You kind of owe us one now
Since that Iraq thing
