Those Texas cops who violently raided a new gay bar? They've all been fired.

Texas liquor board fires 2 agents and their boss over raid at Fort Worth gay bar -- latimes.com
Reporting from Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Friday it has fired the two agents, as well as their supervisor, who took part in this summer's raid of a Fort Worth gay bar that resulted in law enforcement clashing with hundreds of patrons and leaving one man hospitalized with a serious head injury. Agent Christopher Aller, who had been with the commission for five years, and agent trainee Jason Chapman, hired April 1, were terminated as of Friday over the raid at the Rainbow Lounge. . . . The firings come three weeks after the Texas liquor board released an internal affairs report finding that Aller and Chapman violated a number of policies. The violations included taking part in an operation without approval, failing to report use of force against patrons, failure to report that a patron was injured, and disrupting business.
It's a nice change, especially since they were initially loudly praised by their boss for giving one man in the bar brain damage from beating him so hard.

This woman might die from eating raw cookie dough

Linda Rivera, Hospitalized After Eating Nestlé Cookie Dough, Tries to Stay Alive - washingtonpost.com
LAS VEGAS -- In Room 519 of Kindred Hospital, Linda Rivera can no longer speak. Her mute state, punctuated only by groans, is the latest downturn in the swift collapse of her health that began in May when she curled up on her living room couch and nonchalantly ate several spoonfuls of the Nestl´┐Ż cookie dough her family had been consuming for years. Federal health officials believe she is among 80 people in 31 states sickened by cookie dough contaminated with a deadly bacteria, E. coli O157:H7. The impact of the infection has been especially severe for Rivera and nine other victims who developed a life-threatening complication known as hemolytic uremic syndrome. One, a 4-year-old girl from South Carolina, had a stroke and is partially paralyzed. . . .

DJ AM dead of apparent drug overdose

I am sad. First thing that came to mind: "Cocaine is God's way of telling you you have too much money." -- Robin Williams But that's flip and unfair -- Adam Goldstein and Travis Barker both survived a horrible Lear Jet crash last year, and sadly, if one is prone to addiction, getting pain killers after an accident can set one off. Add that to a limitless cashflow and there you are. I am pleased that I got to see DJ AM live here in Ann Arbor at Studio 4 in 2007, thanks Reese. See video. DJ AM found dead of apparent overdose | The Australian
DJ AM - the celebrity disc jockey known for dating starlets and surviving a horrific plane crash - has been found dead in an apparent drugs overdose in New York. Cops found prescription drug bottles inside DJ AM's residence at 210 Lafayette Street after the 36-year-old's lifeless body spotted face-down in his bed at around 5:23 pm by a friend, who was concerned he hadn't heard from the performer in several days, sources said. Emergency medical workers responding to a 911 call from the friend declared DJ AM dead at the scene, the Daily Telegraph reports. No foul play is suspected. DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, had twittered recently that he had finished wrapping up an MTV reality show about drug addiction. ... In his own last post on Twitter, dated Tuesday, DJ AM quoted a Grandmaster Flash song: "New York, New York. Big city of dreams, but everything in New York ain't always what it seems."

Socialites Without Borders Teach Rwandans How To Mingle

Socialites Without Borders Teach Rwandans How To Mingle | The Onion - America's Finest News Source
"These poor souls, there's so much we can do to help to them," said Tinsley Rothschild, an event planner for the non-profit organization, while surveying the country's bleak and arid landscape. "Just look around, there's nothing here: no hors d'oeuvres, no towering ice sculptures, nothing. Nobody should have to live like this." "I bet most of these people have never even seen a Bellini, let alone know how to sip one," Rothschild continued. "Unless we do something fast, these men and women stand no chance of surviving a high-society dinner party." Arriving on private jets from their headquarters in Martha's Vineyard, volunteers from Socialites Without Borders touched down in northern Rwanda early Sunday morning. Following an extravagant luncheon held in their honor, the charitable luminaries were driven by limousine to a nearby refugee camp, where they provided impoverished villagers with emergency lessons in everything from making small talk, to name-dropping, to drastically improving one's life by marrying a wealthy steel magnate.
