The best horror film of the century gets a sequel

The Descent Y'All

Based on a script by James Watkins (My Little Eye), the $10 million sequel will shoot more than eight weeks on location in Scotland and at London's Ealing Studios.

The stars of the original film, Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Mendoza, will reprise their roles, alongside Gavan O'Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings.

The script sees the survivor forced back into the system of caves she battled her way out of in the first film in a bid to locate the rest of her group, who were assailed by blind man-eating mutant cave dwellers.

LOST as the Faerie Kingdom

Geoff Klock's Blog: Ping33 on LOST as the Faerie Kingdom

It's fairly clear to me what the nature of the island is: It's faerie-land. Between the stealing of children, the displaced time and the healing effects it has every single one of the standard faerie tropes. Ben is the human become king ala the children in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The fact that he was not "born on the island" as he first claimed is a key point, but like the kids in Narnia he was "born again" on the Island. Under this reading: Jacob Becomes Oberon.

Why can't women become pregnant? The long stated inability for Faeries to have children and necessity for them to steal human ones.

When did Clare's child become safe? When he was baptised! Then he was no longer at risk of being stolen (and replaced with a changeling?)

How to easily explain the Dharma logos elsewhere in the globe? multiple entry points to the faerie realm. Why, in the flash forwards is everyone (except Kate) Miserable? Because they've 'eaten the food' and left a part of themselves in the faerie land and are now can not feel complete in the mundane world.

What if zombies invaded your favorite TV show?

Breaking In: Just Add Zombies! — pinkraygun.com

The Wire:
The bodies in all the boarded abandoned homes come to life and start ravaging East Baltimore. The paper gets word of the increased body count, but decides that it is not newsworthy because they have to devote five pages of coverage to a cat caught up a tree in an upper middle class neighborhood.

When Burrell hears about the problem, he decides that since the bodies are moving, they ain’t dead, so they go back and alter the murder count. The stats now show that Baltimore has the lowest crime rate in last twenty years! Based on this stellar performance, Mayor Royce is reelected.

Back in Mexico, Omar learns that Butchie has been taken out by zombies. Armed with his sawed-off shotgun, he comes to town to avenge Butchie’s death… and rids the town of the zombie invasion. Now the police force is faced with an astronomical body count and Royce’s job is on the line. But when they learn of Omar’s involvement, they take him in and book him as a serial murderer. The murder solve rate is the highest in twenty years! Based on the stellar work of his police force, Mayor Royce runs for governor and wins.

the Venture Bros. return on June 1st

Blog@Newsarama -- Best news of the day: Venture Bros. debuts June 1

Today I am tired of scandal and torture and my government and man's inumanity to man. Today is a day for reading about comic books and adventure, about video games and glory. Today is a day of escapist frivolity, because the Yoo memo is some really depressing shit.

South Park going online and free

South Park to Offer All Episodes Free | The Underwire from Wired.com

South Park fans will soon be able to watch any episode of the seminal animated show free online, thanks to a deal between show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Comedy Central's parent company, Viacom.

According to Comedy Central reps, Parker and Stone are the driving force behind South Park Studios, the series' new online HQ offering free viewing of all 12 seasons of South Park. Currently in its beta format, the site and its episodes are ad-supported, but require no additional fees to view as many episodes as a fan's heart desires.

In an appropriately glib statement, Parker and Stone said they were inspired to start the site when they got "really sick of having to download our own show illegally all the time. So we gave ourselves a legal alternative."
