This post is about Kevin Smith. If you don't give a shit, don't read it.

jay and silent bob.jpgvia @ThatKevinSmith Kevin Smith is me if I'd had any balls or self-respect in my teens. His SModcast has caused me to laugh uproariously on public streetcorners to graphic descriptions of things like his wife sitting backwards on the toilet taking a crap ... or him imagining what life would be like if he ballooned up to 700 pounds and needed to be wheeled around in two Rascal scooters, welded together... or whether or not you'd save the life of everyone in a bank if the bankrobber singled you out to deliver unto him a hostage-liberating blowjob. (As with most things, it isn't the premise, it's the delivery.) The entire blog entry is a retrospective of the auteur's work to date and explains Smith's new attitude toward his career following the disappointingly modest success of his last film, Zack and Miri Make a Prono. 2009 - The Year Kevin Smith Grows Up? | I’ve Seen Things You People Wouldn’t Believe
For those of you unfamiliar with SModcast, the premise is as follows. Each week Kevin Smith and [long-time collaborator and producer] Scott Mosier find time amongst themselves to sit down and, well, shoot the shit for lack of a better term. In the beginning each show lasted roughly fifty-two minutes, plus or minus, with only a few notable exceptions. Once the series began to reach double digits, however, the show began to change up. SModcast was created partially as an attempt by Smith for he and Mosier to get together each week and catch up on things, but as the show progressed it became apparent that such a notion wasn’t always feasible. And so with it’s thirteenth episode, “SFodcast (or SWodcast),” SModcast found itself with an absent Scott Mosier and special guest, sitting in, Walt Flanagan (”Fanboy,” to the fanboys), one of Smith’s best friends from his youth. And while there is not, and probably never will be, a SModcast without Smith himself, we found that from time to time there will be one without Mosier, at which time we will be treated to a special guest. Guests so far (aside from Walt Flanagan) have included Bryan Johnson (another friend from his old days), his wife, Jennifer Schwalbach-Smith, Malcolm Ingram, Jason Mewes, and even Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith (named after the Batman character if you didn’t know).

The secret behind Lost's "numbers" and the Dharma initiative

The Lost Experience Explained: Lost Blog

First off, SPOILER ALERT.

Secondly, this is from the Lost Experience Alternate Reality Game, so it may have been canonical once but may not be now. In any event, it's a fun explanation of what the numbers mean. Also, the actual description of the game involved to discover all this is enjoyably baroque.

1. It all began with the mathematician, Enzo Valenzetti. Sponsored by the UN after the world almost went to nuclear war in the '60s, Valenzetti developed an equation that predicts the exact date the human race will extinguish itself.

2. The Valenzetti Equation has six terms. The constant coefficients of the six terms are (you guessed it) 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

3. In order to avoid the extinction of the human race, some scientific means must be found to alter one or more of the terms of the Valenzetti Equation.

4. Wealthy industrialist Alvar Hanso (AH) formed the Dharma Initiative to find a way to alter one or more of the Valenzetti Equation's terms (Dharma stands for Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications).

5. Each station on the island is the center for researching one term. The groups are to work in secret until they make a breakthrough and signal it to the world. . . .

Do we really need a Buffy reboot?

'Buffy' in for feature relaunch

"Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

While Whedon is the person most associated with "Buffy," Kuzui and her Kuzui Enterprises have held onto the rights since the beginning, when she discovered the "Buffy" script from then-unknown Whedon. She developed the script while her husband put together the financing to make the 1992 movie, which was released by Fox.

Kuzui later teamed with Gail Berman, then president of Sandollar Television, bringing back Whedon to make the TV series, which was produced by Fox TV and launched on the WB in 1997. Kuzui and Sandollar received executive producer credits on "Buffy" and its spinoff, "Angel."
