How To: Fool Orbitz that your Mac is a Windows PC

So it has come out that Orbitz, the travel booking site, charges Mac users $20 to $30 more a day when booking hotels than PC users. Presumably because they will pay it, or because Orbitz thinks mac users are wealthier. All I know is that I already never use Orbitz because their prices for me--a Mac user--are too high.

But here is a handy trick to force Safari to tell the world you are a PC user, so you can avoid being charged extra by duplicitous merchants.

Fool Orbitz that your Mac is a Windows PC

Recently Orbits made the news headlines because of their marketing strategy to offer Mac users more expensive options than PC users. This doesn’t mean that as a Mac user you will not find the same deals as a Windows PC user are offered. Its just that Orbitz figured out that Mac users typically prefer a nicer room and are willing to spend a bit more on their travel. As apposed to the average Windows PC user who is typically most interested in a low price. Therefor Orbitz offers a Mac user by default the options they thing you are most likely interested in.
