"Unlike white progressives, blacks and Latinos are not used to getting it all."

This analysis doesn't dig as deep as I'd like, but I'm posting it because Reed has succinctly articulated what I've been feeling about the current Obama-Republican-Democrat tax cuts & welfare imbroglio. It gives me a vocabulary for understanding the ongoing loyalty feel toward a President who has disappointed me as much as anyone, and the greasy feeling in my gut when I listen to guys like Bernie Sanders and Alan Grayson.

And, yeah, I've basically resigned myself to spending the next two days being told I'm either stupid or a coward by those I know and love. <sigh>

What Progressives Don’t Understand About Obama - NYTimes.com

Progressives have been urging the president to “man up” in the face of the Republicans. Some want him to be like John Wayne. On horseback. Slapping people left and right.

One progressive commentator played an excerpt from a Harry Truman speech during which Truman screamed about the Republican Party to great applause. He recommended this style to Mr. Obama. If President Obama behaved that way, he’d be dismissed as an angry black militant with a deep hatred of white people.
