Gov. Dipshit goes rogue: The know-nothingest Know-Nothing ever

dipshit1.jpgCNN | Palin's 'going rogue,' McCain aide says
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) -- With 10 days until Election Day, long-brewing tensions between GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin and key aides to Sen. John McCain have become so intense, they are spilling out in public, sources say. Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue."... "Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," said another McCain source with direct knowledge of the process to prepare Palin after she was picked. The source said it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history."... "She's no longer playing for 2008; she's playing 2012," Democratic pollster Peter Hart said. "And the difficulty is, when she went on 'Saturday Night Live,' she became a reinforcement of her caricature. She never allowed herself to be vetted, and at the end of the day, voters turned against her both in terms of qualifications and personally."

Ann Arbor News makes no endorsement for president

Ann Arbor News | Editorial: McCain and Obama's shortcomings, campaigns have been disappointing
Dear Editors: Regarding your lack of a presidential endorsement this year: Chicken-hearted. Do you covet your western-Washtenaw County subscribers so very much that you will invent reasons not to endorse Sen. Barack Obama? I've paid attention to your editorial pages since your flabbergasting endorsement of Pres. George Bush last time around -- which certainly speaks volumes about to the quality of your endorsements. In fact, the Ann Arbor News editors rarely show the guts to opine on anything, leaving it to better minds at the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Kalamazoo Gazette to do their thinking for them. The most interesting writing on the Ann Arbor News' Op/Ed pages comes from its readership. Please give them more space and your cynical, circulation-informed cowardice less. Alan Benard

Palin: Abortion clinic bombers not terrorists

Bitch is crazy. Abortion clinic bombers not terrorists, Palin says
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has accused Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists," has refused to call people who bomb abortion clinics by the same name. When asked Thursday night by NBC television presenter Brian Williams whether an abortion clinic bomber was a terrorist, Palin heaved a sigh and, at first, circumvented the question.... "Now, others who would want to engage in harming innocent Americans or facilities that it would be unacceptable to... I don't know if you're gonna use the word 'terrorist' there," the ardently pro-life running mate of John McCain said.

Report: McCain camp hyped attack tale before truth emerged

Raw Story | Report: McCain camp hyped attack tale before truth emerged
The Drudge Report featured a teased story about the incident before any details about it were released. That caused KDKA reporters to contact the spokesman, confirmed as Peter Feldman. Feldman's presumptuous claims are "significant because it reveals a McCain official pushing a version of the story that was far more explosive than the available or confirmed facts permitted at the time," an election blog at Talking Points Memo reported.
The story could deal a sharp blow to the McCain campaign, which might be seen as having pushed an incendiary story that had no basis in fact and that nearly blew up into a "national incident," said Pittsburgh Police Assistant Chief Maurita Bryant, reported KWTX News. Obama's campaign has already privately accused the McCain camp of promoting a racially-charged version of the story. Todd, reportedly a McCain campaign volunteer, confessed she made up her story about a "big black man" holding her to the ground, carving the "B" into her face and telling her she needed to support Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Top 50 Jewish Hotties

lisa_loeb.jpgThey're like kryptonite! My weakness!! Pictured: Lisa Loeb, No. 46 UGO | Top 50 Jewish Hotties
by Chaim "Shmegege" Shedayim The Jewish people, despite never in our history having a population greater than that of, say, Cameroon, have given so much to the wider world. The fundamental text of Western literature. The foundation of Western law and justice. That Jesus guy. e=mc2. Hollywood. Superheroes. Most of the Great American Songbook. Stan Getz. "White Christmas." Philip Roth. The polio vaccine. ICQ. Han Solo. But perhaps our greatest gift of all to our pogrom-happy gentile friends and neighbors is one you might not expect: our fine, fine ladies. Jewish women have often been unfairly maligned by those self-haters in LA as ravenous maelstroms of emasculation supported by prominent noses, but those of us who came up within the maelstrom know the truth. Whether you're after brains, curves or the secure knowledge you'll never have (or be allowed) to make another decision ever again, the females of our tribe have got your number. What was good enough for Bogart is good enough for you - and here's fifty pieces of proof.

GOP compiles "goner list," prepares for a nightmare

The last Great Depression produced a 47/48-state majority for Roosevelt and a 60-plus-year-Democratic domination of Congress. GOP 'goner' list warns of House rout
An internal document circulating among House Republicans warns of an impending congressional bloodbath, listing 58 Republican-held House seats being at risk, and 11 already considered as good as gone. As many as 34 GOP-held seats are in serious jeopardy of swinging to Democrats, the assessment shows.

Ron Howard humiliates self, slams your nostalgia button for Obama

Don't let this sacrifice be in vain, people!
See more Ron Howard videos at Funny or Die
Latest Obama advocates: Opie, Andy Griffith, Fonz
The video is the latest clip from FunnyOrDie.com, which has made news this election season by putting Hollywood celebrities in funny political videos. The site, which was co-founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, has produced popular videos featuring Paris Hilton in a mock campaign ad and Gina Gershon as Sarah Palin. Because the videos are produced quickly — McKay and company can dispatch a small crew in just hours — the site can create timely videos related to the news. The video came together when Howard called Judd Apatow, the director and producer who is a partner with FunnyOrDie. Apatow referred him to McKay, who wrote a draft of the script with Howard's input. Jake Szymanski, who directed the Hilton video, shot it.

Police State: 100-mile "Constitution Free" border zone

aclumap.jpg Shrink yer balls right up, this one will. Or whatever ya got that shrinks. Raw Story | ACLU highlights 'Constitution-Free Zone' 100 miles from border
The ACLU says a "Constitution-free zone" exists within 100 miles of the US border, where DHS claims the authority to stop, search and detain anyone for any reason. Nearly two-thirds of the US population lives within 100 miles of the border, according to the ACLU, and the border zone encompasses scores of major metropolitan areas and even entire states. Customs and Border Patrol, a component of DHS, was authorized by Congress to operate within a "reasonable" distance of the border, and that distance has been set at 100 miles in regulations governing CBP, the ACLU says. The authorization has been in place for decades, but complaints about abuses of the extended border zone began to ramp up as CBP was expanded and folded into DHS after 9/11. ... ACLU affiliates around the country have fielded dozens of calls from people claiming they were harassed by border agents, and the group believes there are untold numbers of other victims who are afraid to come forward.
This past summer, Craig Johnson joined dozens of other activists in a San Diego-area park to protest the expansion of a fence along the US-Mexico border. ... It seems that Johnson's participation in the anti-fence demonstration may have landed him on a government watch list that has inhibited his ability to travel freely between the US and Mexico. A professor of Music, Johnson said he traveled to Tijuana about a week after the protest; upon returning to the US, Johnson says he was handcuffed and arrested by customs agents after a listing associated with his name pegged him as armed and dangerous. "I was thoroughly and aggressively searched. ... Every inch and crack and crevice of my body was poked and prodded," Johnson said. "I was in complete bewilderment of what was going on; I felt violated and frankly was embarrassed."...

Thousands of academics sign on to support Bill Ayers

This is a good and a bad thing. Good because it is a just and right thing to do, and solidarity in academia is a good thing. Bad because, when the next witch hunt hits, the FBI will have a neatly typed list of "subversives."
More than 3,000 academics have shown their support for embattled University of Illinois professor William Ayers. [C.V.,.doc format] "I think he's doing a lot of positive, progressive, constructive work right now" in the field of education, said Brown University English professor and inaugural signatory William Keach to the Brown Daily Herald.
The Weather Underground's protests of the Vietnam War were part of a "Declaration of a State of War" against the United States government, which included marches, riots and bombings of banks and government buildings. "It's easy to paint someone with a broad brush," added signatory and lecturer Constance Crawford, who emphasized appreciation for Ayers' more recent accomplishments rather than focusing on the Vietnam era. "It's easy to vilify, but it's harder to consider."

R.I.P. Rudy Ray Moore, "Dolomite" star and hip-hop inspiration

NY Daily News | 'Dolemite' comedian Rudy Ray Moore, inspiration to hip hop culture, dead at 81 years old
Rudy Ray Moore, the comedian, singer and actor who inspired rappers like Snoop Dogg and whose Dolemite character was one of the great street culture figures of the 20th century, died Sunday night at a nursing home in Akron, Ohio.... His best-known character was Dolemite, who started as a player on Moore's comedy records of the '60s and migrated to a series of low-budget movies in the mid-1970s. Dolemite was a pimp, kung-fu expert and all-around bad-man hustler with a subtle sense of self-aware humor, a less polished cousin to Shaft and other black stars of the era.
